There
are so many other pieces that contribute to long-tem health and
that can support your efforts to change – things like beliefs and
attitudes, exercise, sleep habits, supplements, etc. But trying
to "just do it" can
send you scurrying in too many directions, getting you nowhere at all.
Take Two Apples and Call Me in the Morning is a meal
of many courses, carefully made with all of the ingredients that have
been helpful to my clients and students over the years. I serve it
to you with the hope that it will inspire in you an enthusiasm to take
charge
of your health in what I believe is the most powerful and direct way
possible – through the food you eat every day. This is an ongoing meal
not meant for you to devour in one or two sittings – you will surely
feel stuffed and uncomfortable if you approach it that way. It
is not a diet program, although it does have concrete suggestions for
structuring
your eating based on an understanding of your body and your physical and emotional
health needs. This book may not give you the high of the latest, dramatic diet
plan. It is grounded in good nutrition, but, more important, it is grounded
in the reality of how people like you or I plan for, execute, and integrate
big
changes that will stick for the long haul. One step at a time. Your time.
I will consider this book successful if your desire to eat differently and exercise
regularly is ignited, not because I've convinced you of anything, but because
after trying a few small changes, you are not able to ignore how much better
you feel. And I will consider it successful if, beyond that, it continues to
provide you with the support, information, and guidance you need to keep building
on those first delicious experiences of better health.
